Lore keeper I require help - Strange Trails has been my favourite album for like, 2 years now and I've seen Lord Huron in concert but I have NO idea what is going on with the lore. I know there's Guys and there's DVDs (that are now on youtube that I should get round to-) and there's comics somewhere? Where does one begin with Lore Huron
alas I will be of no help here, I got a brain disease about vide noir in december 2021 and accidentally found out there was a movie about it two days ago and that's the extent of my expertise. songes.

top 5 lord huron songs? you've convinced me i should listen to them
SO GLAD YOU ASKED ANON
5. Way Out There This is off MY personal favourite album of theirs, Strange Trails (which is also where The Night We Met comes from). Where Lord Huron really excel is lyricism, and this song has maybe my favourite example of it "I belong bodily to the Earth/I'm just wearing old bones of those who came first/I've been unravelling since my birth/Going to wander out there and see what I'm worth"
4. Ancient Names (Pt. 1 and Pt. 2) Strange Trails is their best album and probably the fan favourite but I maintain Vide Noir, their next album is probably their most cohesive. It's a dark and trippy album which teeters on the edge of insanity and the supernatural, and nothing really encompasses the album as well as Ancient Names. The narrator goes and gets their fortune told and is told they're "good as dead" because of someone (or something?) from their past coming for them.
3. The Ghost on the Shore Very much a change of pace from n3. This is from their first album Lonesome Dreams and more of their incredible phrasing is at play here. The narrator knows they're about to die the next day, but instead of explicitly saying those words they say "The tale that began on the night of my birth will be done in a turn of the Earth." It's a waltzing lullaby in 3/4 with a harmonica and a violin drifting in and out throughout and just such a beautiful and calm song.
2. The Yawning Grave/Frozen Pines I cheated and went with two songs in one. But they DO bleed into each other sonically on the album (The Yawning Grave first, Frozen Pines after) and both are such strong songs on their own. The narrator of The Yawning Grave is Death? Maybe? or at least some other big and ancient force that warns the listener "Oh you fool there are rules I am coming for you (you can run but you can't escape)/Darkness brings evil things oh the reckoning begins (you will open the yawning grave)". Great for all my cosmic horror fans out there/lovers of the "something in the woods trope". Frozen Pines on the other hand, is about alien abduction, even though neither of those words are ever mentioned in the song. A lover waits in "frozen pines" to see his lover again which vanished one night while a "strange light in the sky" shone. Lyricism on these two songs shines through STRONG and the bridge/ending of Frozen Pines is just transcendent.
1.Meet Me in the Woods It's not my FAVOURITE (TYG/FP my beloveds) but I have to put it n1. This should've been their big worldwide hit, not the Night We Met. Guaranteed to get one feeling like they want to run through the woods and maybe get slightly warped by some sort of cosmic horror.

Just want to let you know you're just in time for the next Lord Huron era. The lead singer said in a recent interview that the band just finished up recording 12 songs for a new album so we should be getting new music in 2024
THIS IS PERFECT
i have been vibing with all this new (to me) music. i don’t know why i didn’t try to listen to them before; meet me in the woods was one of my top played tracks before i really got into them
my favorites so far:
meet me in the woods- a given
vide noir - absolutely perfect. nothing compares. absolute heaven
secret of life- love playing this in the morning while doing my make up. helps me get ready for work
fool for love- just makes me imagine arthur beating Tommy up at the valentine saloon. even though arthur won that fight i like to imagine a fanfic/scenario where he didn’t and he’s just laying in the mud flat out 🥸
then obviously, setting sun- i don’t know what type of drugs they pumped into this song, but i cant stop listening to it. i think a part of me really likes it because you’re so passionate about it, so it makes me really like it too because i love when people are obsessed with something. it makes me so happy 🩵🩷
thank you for all of your input on everything! i love finding new music and completely drowning myself in it. i’m that type of person that will play songs over and over again on repeat until forever. even rn, i have vide noir playing in my head. so so so freaking good. thank you thank you thank you a million times 🦋🩵🦋🩵🦋🩵😍🩵😍
also listening to this music just gives me so much motivation to write my rdr2 fanfic; was just sitting the other night on my bed writing and crying the whole time

having seen the music video now i can it DEFINITELY draws it together a lot better. also, i think it continues to grow on me with each listen. it's giving kind of slam poetry vibes. kristen's lines aren't merely voiceover, they've got some level of meter. unfortunately though it's been like 6 years since i did any scansion so i'm having issues giving you any type of concrete identification of it 😭not to mention i was historically not super great identifying iambs vs trochees vs whatever even when I did it regularly. but also the repetition of the "i kept my eyes on the long white lines" is fantastic as a refrain, especially with the rhyme within the line. To me that repeating line is one of the things that fully pulls it together.
One thing I've always loved about Lord Huron is their artistry. Music and every part of the process is art to them. It's obvious in the way they build their narratives and lore, the way Ben paints his own album covers, the creation of the Vide Noir movie, etc. This song is not a radio friendly single. Because they're not trying for it to be. They're doing art. It seems like an intro/trailer for the rest of the album. Or, perhaps, it's an interlude in the middle of the narrative (since we get introduced to Kristen's character rather abruptly--perhaps this is mid-album and there is prior context to why she's driving/getting away. Or maybe not and this is the first song!) But this song is a glimpse into what to expect for the new album, and the video is full of little clues and details. I think I can appreciate it much better after letting go my relatively narrow expectation of getting a "normal" song lol.
Anyway I should go drive down a highway at night and put this on in my car and experience the entire spectrum of human emotion, shouldn't I?
YIPPEEEEE NEW LORD HURON MUSIC!
observations:
-PEAK lord huron vibes. they thrive in this space and it's giving vide noir mixed with everything else. I really love the kind of sultry spooky late night rock vibes they're giving off here. Can't wait to analyze all the lines Kristen is saying.
-the music is. SO SO SO good. I am such a big fan of it. I would loooove an instrumental track so I can just appreciate every single bit of it.
-ben's voice sounds amazing as always and I love his bits. you don't remember what I've said, but you'll remember what I did...
-this feels like an album opener to set the vibe and lore. It feels like an intro
cons:
-im sorry but there is too much Kristen Stewart voiceover in this for my taste. Like it's less song and more her doing spoken word narration? It went on a lot longer than I expected for the song. I don't hate narration in general (for example, I don't mind the end of What Do It Mean which is a semi-controversial opinion on the subreddit) nor do I dislike anything about Kristen's performance, but this in particular isn't my fave.
-hence why it feels like an album opener to set the vibe? It's cool piece of music but am not sure I see myself listening to it much as a *song*
-dont get me wrong it's a vibe and I'm excited for the future based on this! but there's not much singing lmao
conclusion:
-nevertheless i am even more excited for the new album than I was before, and I'm super excited for this direction
-i will still listen to it on repeat LOL

Cad Bane
hehe, my boy! Here we GO!
send me a character and i’ll list:
~favorite thing about them: I absolutely love his design, voice, and overall aesthetic. He didn't have to be a literal space cowboy, but my god that was the right choice. ~least favorite thing about them: Not as much of a problem with him himself, but more of the fact he's not utilized as much (his appearances in The Bad Batch and that Maul comic being exceptions) ~favorite line: "By hook or crook, you're coming with me." (this line radiated Robocop energy and I love it) ~brOTP: Really digging the relationship between him and Embo that's been getting popular on the Bounty Hunter Discord server. ~OTP: Him and his one true love: credits. For real though, I'm a multi-shipper so I bounce around with ships a lot. Though I'm really digging the Cad+Aurra ship (the Cadber crack pairing doesn't count cuz obvious reasons) ~nOTP: Cadsoka, for obvious reasons I should not have to explain. Don't even try to bring up Rebels Ahsoka being "an adult," because Cad wasn't even in that show so therefore that argument is invalid. Considering all the ship art I see of them is Ahsoka as a minor, yeah.....*vomits* ~random headcanon: He was an only child and an "accident." Also, he doodles when he's bored (I blame the server for this one). ~unpopular opinion: I don't really have high hopes of him showing up in live-action. Like, I'd love to see him again, but considering how expressive he is compared to the other Duros we saw in live-action, I dunno how he'd be pulled off without coming across as "uncanny valley." Also, his outfit in The Bad Batch wasn't that bad (especially compared to his, "this'll do," outfit in The Deception arc). His hat just shrunk, that's my only complaint (but the thought of it accidentally ending up in the wash is funny to me) ~song i associate with them: "Big Iron"- Marty Robbins (cuz I'm a predictable dork). And I guess "Vide Noir"- Lord Huron (dunno why, but I just do) ~favorite picture of them: this one (please don't judge me...)

I found your blog after you reblogged my post (about not understanding how there are people who want to fuck Pennywise when Randall Flagg is literally right there), and I’ve low key been stalking this blog for the past week or two. I don’t know how you feel about music suggestions, but i think “Vide Noir” or “Until the Night Turns” by Lord Huron would go really well with the aesthetic of this blog. I’m sure I‘be embarrassed myself enough, but thank you for existing!!
[What a fantastic song, thank you very much for sharing, it’s absolutely perfect, I’ll have to stick that on my playlist - and that post was amazing and you were right and you should say it ;) All monster crushes are valid of course but Randy’s the biggest monster of ‘em all. Thankee sai, for the kind message and lovely music, and I’m glad my presence in this strange little universe is appreciated ;) ]

any book/tv shows/movie/song recommendations? :)
i’m so so sorry i posted this ask then immediately forgot about it and went to bed adhsgj
i’m not good at reccing books because if i’m being perfectly honest, i don’t read them as much as i used to. the one i’m currently reading (currently meaning i’ve stopped but i’m gonna go back to it) is the Poldark series by Winston Graham and i love it but it might have to do with the fact that i am/was really invested in the series aghkjdf
i know you already watch elite so i’m not gonna rec it, but it’s the last show i watched since roswell and i love it. oh one show that if you haven’t watched yet you should watch because it is life changing because it’s so good is the get down, but it’s been cancelled after 1 season ( 11 episodes of 60 minutes i think) and the ending of the last episode... is not very satisfying. but i still think it’s worth it because it’s so freaking good.
asking me to rec movie is like dsghjf people never like what i love!! anyway i think everyone and their mom has seen midsommar by now but if you like light horror, it is an experience. i also rec any xavier dolan movie (maybe start with mommy or the death and life of john f. donovan) like one of my reasons to live right now is that there’s a new one coming out in october and it looks so fucking good. give me liberty is by far the best movie that has and will come out this year but i’m not sure it’s available anywhere yet
well for the songs i’ve been listening to bastille a lot lately, lord huron’s album vide noir, oh and kacey musgraves like on repeat
thank you lubs!!! 💖

1-5, 8, 12!
1. Song of the my year?
King of Spain by The Tallest Man on Earth
2. Album of the year?
Black Panther The Album, easily. Vide Noir by Lord Huron and Nina Cried Power by Hozier in very close second and third place.
3. Favorite musical artist / group you started listening to this year?I answered this but you know what? I’m going to say that I did get super into ABBA in a more concentrated way this year. (Everyone, ask Delani for her incred ABBA playlist.)
4. Movie of the year?
I have no memory of seeing a single film this year except Black Panther. I’ve been on 24/7/365 Black Panther lock down.
5. TV show of the year?
I’m bad at watching things but The Good Place was probably it for me.
8. Game of the year?
Girl you KNOW I’ve got to say Toon Blast. I should play that badboy again before Ryan Reynolds does something weird with it and we have to delete the app out of shame.
12. Talk about a new friend you made this year
This is incredibly cheesy (and maybe an indication that i need to get out more) but i made really good friends with my coworkers this year. It was my first FULL year at my job and we’re all a super close-knit group. We do a lot of stuff after work which fills my socializing quota — super great for a girl who doesn’t know how to make friends as an adult.
